Job Description

The incumbent will direct all activities of the Ore Processing Department to meet production guidelines in a safe and cost-effective manner. Create process streams that maximize recovery and gold production.

Job Responsibilities

1.    Efficient operation of all areas of process: Heap leach facilities, Carbon strip, Mill facilities, Met Lab, Assay Lab, and Refinery. 
2.    Oversee the management of supervisory personnel in all areas of process.
3.    Provide for safe working conditions. Ensures training at all levels is being conducted.
4.    Implement strategies in all areas of process to achieve production goals. Provides follow-up and direction to ensure these objectives are met.
5.    Coordinate with accountants, superintendents, chief metallurgist, and general foremen to develop an operating budget.
6.    Directs the resources of the department to maximize their use in all areas of process.
7.    Works with consultants and contractors to develop and complete various projects with maintenance or new construction.
8.    Punctuality and regular attendance is required.
9.    Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
10.    Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to, safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies.
11.    Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the state.
12.    Work safely in all areas while identifying potential safety hazards and work with management to correct them.
13.    Work without significant risk of harm to self and others.
14.    Perform other duties as required.

Education and Experience

1.    High school diploma or equivalent required.  Employee must have sufficient education to read and write instructions, perform mathematical calculations, and keep records.
2.    Bachelor’s degree in a mineral processing or metallurgical engineering discipline required.
3.    Twenty years of mining experience preferred. 
4.    Fifteen years of specific process/milling experience preferred.
5.    Ten years of process/mill management preferred.

Skills

  1.    In-depth technical knowledge of oxide and sulfide ore metallurgical processes, refining, and gold extraction methodologies.
  2. Ability to manage superintendents and general foremen.
  3.  Ability to lead professionals through critical thinking paths for process improvement.
  4.  Ability to think analytically, to execute findings, to develop/make recommendations, and move forward new ideas that improve the process.
  5.   Ability to set the path of optimum maintenance of company assets.
  6.   Ability to implement problem solutions through a metallurgical and mechanical process.
  7. Must have solid verbal and written communication skills.
  8.  Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with others in a team environment.
  9. Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
  10.  May work holidays, weekends, and shift work as required.
