Job Description

Supervise, instruct, and provide senior-level technical support to the Hauling and Support Supervisors in preventative maintenance, major maintenance, health and safety, and personnel management to achieve production goals.

Job Responsibilities

  • Leads department by example in health and safety performance. Ensures safety compliance and makes certain all maintenance programs and activities are in accordance with corporate, site and MSHA safety regulations.
  • Manages the department's environmental performance by supporting and complying with all related policies.
  • Responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of all activities related to hauling and support equipment. Reports on the achievement of targets and revises strategies as needed to ensure maintenance is preventative, predictive, and proactive.
  • Collaborate with MEM Maintenance Superintendent to identify and analyze business requirements and the implications for the department; identify gaps and implement agreed upon solutions.
  • Monitor efficiencies of the Haul and Support Supervisor and/or crews to ensure maintenance priorities are met and work with mine, maintenance planners, and supervisors to coordinate activities in completing work requirements.
  • Analyze maintenance functions and makes adjustments to crew size as demands change. Assure proper training is provided when and as needed.
  • Supervise and directs the activities of the Haul and Support Supervisor and/or crew including defining and delegating work assignments to maintain acceptable cost-effective equipment availabilities in a safe manner to meet the company's production goals.
  • Supervise and evaluates the job performance of the Haulage and Support Supervisor, answer queries, and handle requests related to mobile maintenance concerning health and safety, production, mechanical / electrical training and development, and supervisory skills.
  • Oversee hauling and support personnel issues regarding advancement or discipline. Ensures all supervisor actions are carried out fairly and without bias.
  • Work closely with the Mobile Maintenance Senior Planner to schedule equipment repairs and replacement to maximize equipment utilization and minimize downtime.
  • Provide assistance with maintenance contract administration.
  • Maintain accurate records and files concerning all facets of mobile maintenance including safety meetings, attendance, vacation, scheduling, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, and accidents.
  • Knowledgeable of all phases in the Department of Hauling and Support fleet including critical components and change out hours.
  • Prepare reports and complete documentation related to fleet.
  • Assist in the development of company policies and procedures.
  • Mentor or train less experienced employees on operating standards, procedures, and methods to build the capabilities of the department's ability to achieve financial and operating strategies; hire appropriately, leverage the talents of the department, and take corrective action where necessary.
  • Ensure there is a comprehensive and effective succession management strategy in place; identify succession role requirements and high potential talent while actively developing key talent.
  • Consistent exercise of discretion and judgment in job performance.
  • Act as a communication liaison within the Department of Mobile Maintenance and models the organization's values.
  • Reviews documentation of accidents, injuries, and equipment damage and recommends prevention strategies as necessary.
  • Punctuality and regular attendance is required.
  • Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures, including, but not limited to safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the state.
  • Work safely in all areas and identify potential safety hazards and work with management to correct them.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Education and Experience

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.  Employee must have sufficient education to read and write instructions, perform simple mathematical calculations, and keep records.
  • Degree or technical training equivalent to three years of study in mechanical engineering preferred.
  • Completion of formal professional certification or designation in appropriate area of expertise preferred.




Experience

  • More than 10 years of related work experience required in mobile maintenance.
  • Five years’ supervisory experience required.
  • Previous experience in the mining industry is preferred.
     

Skills

  •  In depth understanding of company processes a definite asset.
  • Complete understanding of mine and maintenance operations (which usually requires seven to ten years’ experience).
  • Must have solid verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with others in a team environment.
  • Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
  • Must be available for shift work, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
  • Progression through wage scale is contingent upon satisfactory completion of attached checklists.
