IT Superintendent

Job Summary

Leads and supports the implementation and consistent execution of global IT strategies and programs throughout the Alaska Operations and exploration projects.  
Manages all activities regarding the Delivery and Support of IT, Mine Technologies, and Telecommunications Services, including Capacity and Availability of IT Assets, Systems and Infrastructure Management, Information Security Management, IT Financial management, budgeting, cost control and Business Continuity Planning and Execution. Management and support of integrated architectural frameworks related to applications, security, data and infrastructure to industry standards along with monitoring and compliance with IT policies and procedures.
To oversee activities related to Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) and to ensure service and/or operating standards are met (internally and/or externally).  To design and develop processes, practices, and methodologies related to IT.  To manage technical resources and services, to provide senior technical support, to ensure services are running and secure, to minimize downtime and to communicate changes, upgrades, and failures to management and end users.  To recommend improvements and enhancements to IT and to manage IT projects for all sites.

Essential Functions

1.    Leads and supports the implementation and consistent execution of global IT strategies and programs throughout the Mine Sites, exploration projects and offices.  
2.    Establish and manage cross-functional project teams to implement projects in accordance with the strategy and business objectives.
3.    Delivery of IT products that integrates service, technology, and operational technology with business plan objectives, and provides quality systems that enable storage, access and sharing of information across the Mine Site.
4.    Liaise with key stakeholders and develop effective relationships both within the Mine Site and externally to ensure relevant and continuously improving practice in information products, services and infrastructure to meet the Mine Site requirements and reflect the rapidly changing technological environment.
5.    Taking a forward view, advise the Senior Management Group on all information services, particularly future requirements and information and technology developments in the market. Provide oversight and direction on critical technology initiatives and funding strategies to support technology investments.
6.    Develop & promote Kinross’s knowledge and information management strategy, principles, processes, policies and tools, considering the development, custodianship, and effective retrieval and retention of organizational knowledge and information resources so that organizational knowledge and information systems are available, accurate and current where required.
7.    Review complex proposals and contracts for the purchase of IT products and services. Develop partnership agreements including involvement in regional mines and offices of Kinross information and technology initiatives.
8.    Provide advice and guidance to our people on IT issues; implement learning and development programs to ensure that our people can effectively use the information resources available to them.
9.    Plan, develop and implement relevant policies, procedures, and guidelines to meet the current and future needs of the organization, sharing learning post implementation.
10.    Establish and maintain effective monitoring and evaluation strategies of systems processes and users' needs to enable the development and implementation of changes to improve performance and servicing.
11.    Develops annual IT budget for the Mine Sites consistent with established financial guidelines and business planning processes. Controls Budget execution for IT.
12.    Acts as key liaison between the Mine Site, Kinross regional Office and Global IT team to ensure successful and consistent implementation of global policies, practices and programs and provides feedback for the continuous improvement of global IT strategies.
13.    As required, participates in the development of global initiatives.
14.    Localizes global initiatives as required (i.e. for ERP, Financial Reporting, legislation and language)
15.    Punctuality and regular attendance are required.
16.    Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
17.    Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to, safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies.
18.    Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the state.
19.    Work safely in all areas, identify potential safety hazards, and work with management to correct hazards.
20.    Work without significant risk of harm to self and others.
21.    Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

1.    A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, or a related field is preferred
2.    Additional specialized education of up to 2 years in IT Services Management, Project Management, Change and Risk Management, including master’s level degree or equivalent is preferred
3.    A minimum of 10 years of professional IT experience in a generalist role is preferred
4.    A minimum of 5 years leading Information Technology teams is preferred
5.    Advanced communication skills, written and verbal (i.e., ability to be clear, concise, and accurate) and Fluency in region’s languages (as applicable)   
6.    Strong people leadership and team building capabilities
7.    Ability to guide project teams, including delegating tasks, managing resources, and establishing and monitoring priorities
8.    Experience implementing IT Management services, systems, policies and procedures 
9.    Professional Certifications including ITIL, CoBIT, PMP, and others is preferred
10.    Must have solid verbal and written communication skills.
11.    Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with others in a team environment.
12.    Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
13.    May work holidays, weekends, and shift work as required.
