Located approximately 26 miles from the City of Fairbanks, Fort Knox is a centre of excellence for the Company as one of the few cold weather heap leach facilities in the world. In 2020, Kinross acquired Manh Choh – a project expected to commence production in 2024 and process ore at Fort Knox.

Job Description

Coordinate activities related to Human Resource services and to ensure service and / or operating standards are met (internally and / or externally). Contribute to the design and development of processes, practices, and methodologies in Human Resources.

Job Responsibilities

• Coordinate activities related to HR systems, programs, or processes
• Independently handles routine employee relations issues, benefits administration, recruitment, and HRIS
• Analyzes and interprets information related to exit interviews, accident reports, and benefits claims
• Researches information to support decision making and improve processes, technologies, or methodologies in HR
• Contributes to the development of Human Resources policies and practices
• Prepares communication materials, manuals, and other written materials related to various Human Resource policies, procedures, laws, standards, and government regulations
• Keeps on top of trends related to Human Resources and incorporates this information into work assignments
• Actively seeks mentorship and learning to improve product or technical knowledge and skill set
• May mentor junior employees
• Represents the company for any unemployment claims
• Facilitates and / or provides training (including orientation) to the workforce
• Conducts corrective action meetings with employees as needed
• Conducts recruitment for personnel including, but not limited to: full time exempt/non-exempt employees, summer students, and temporary employees
• Administers benefits, including claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payments, and communicating benefits information to employees
• Maintains Human Resource Information System (HRIS) records and compiles reports from the database 

Education and Experience

Education
• University degree
• Additional specialized education of up to 2 years
• Professional in Human Resources (CHRP, PHR, SPHR) certification preferred


Experience
• 3 – 5 years of related work experience or equivalent
• Complete understanding of Human Resources
• Familiarity with related local and federal regulations required

Skills

• Previous experience in the mining industry is preferred
• Ability to learn quickly
• Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets

Reporting Relationships

• Typically reports to the Human Resources Manager
