Job Description

Supervise and instruct the Heap Leach crew to perform in a cost-effective, safe, productive manner while protecting the environment and enhancing morale of others.

Job Responsibilities

1.    Maintain close working relationship with the Mine Operations and Engineering on timing of ore deliveries, ripping requirements, reject placement, piping activities, etc.    
2.    Manage and evaluate the job performance of the heap leach personnel concerning safety, production, operator training, and development.                    
3.    Review performance evaluations, recommend promotions, and carry out disciplinary actions in conjunction with Human Resources as needed.                        
4.    Investigate, analyze, and supervise the documentation of accidents, injuries, and equipment damage.
5.    Work with Purchasing and Warehouse to ensure constant availability of heap leach parts, tools, equipment, and consumables.                            
6.    Monitor records concerning all facets of heap leach operations including safety meetings, attendance, training, vacations, scheduling, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, and accidents.        
7.    Monitor work areas on an ongoing basis to assure safe and cost-efficient maintenance goals.        
8.    Maintenance of a daily log for work assignments and accomplishments.                    
9.    Prevent needless expenditures and lost production by minimizing equipment downtime through properly executed preventative maintenance and repairs.    
10.    Understand proper HDPE pipe and sheet fusion equipment and practice.                    
11.    Determine and maintain solution application rates, preg, and barren flows.                 
12.    Punctuality and regular attendance is required.
13.    Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
14.    Compliance with all company policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies.
15.    Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the state.
16.    Work safely in all areas and identify potential safety hazards and work with management to correct them.
17.    Work without significant risk of harm to self and others.
18.    Perform other duties as required.
 

Education and Experience

Education

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.  Employee must have sufficient education to read and write instructions, perform simple mathematical calculations, and keep records.

Experience
A minimum of five years’ experience repairing and maintaining industrial equipment.

Skills

3.    Necessary technical ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems pertaining to heap leach.        
4.    Previous crew mechanic experience.            
5.    Strong working knowledge of ore processing operations.                
6.    Must have solid verbal and written communication skills.
7.    Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with others in a team environment.
8.    Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
9.    May work holidays, shift work, and weekends as required.
