Job Summary
Provide support to the Health and Safety Department by coordinating site Industrial Hygiene (IH) and Occupational Health (OH) Programs. This position will facilitate area IH/OH inspections, training, documentation, and all monitoring activities necessary to maintain a safe and healthy workplace, consistently ensuring regulatory compliance while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross’ values.
Essential Functions
- Coordinates the site industrial hygiene and occupational health programs with alignment and oversight by the programs administer and any third-party consultants.
- Coordinate site industrial hygiene activities which include, but are not limited to exposures to dust, noise, mist, fumes, gases, etc.
- Conduct health surveys and sampling site-wide and create and/or maintain appropriate data tracking systems and associated reporting.
- Supervise the development and implementation of appropriate administrative and engineering controls as deemed necessary by the results of monitoring and measuring activities.
- Calibrate, maintain, and/or operate industrial hygiene equipment as deemed necessary to ensure compliance to organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to adhere to current industrial hygiene standard operating procedures, manuals, and programs, etc. (e.g., Hearing Conservation and Respiratory Protection).
- Ability to manage and coordinate projects across multiple departments.
- Facilitates work area inspections.
- Willing to support on site Emergency response team
- Participate and represent the company during MSHA interactions and hazard complaints.
- Coordinate abatement of any citations and complete the proper reports. Ability to perform MSHA part 50 reporting.
- Possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality and code of conduct.
- Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.

- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Punctuality and regular attendance required.
- Perform other related functions as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications and Skill Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Employee must have sufficient education to read and write instructions, perform mathematical calculations, and manage documentation.
- Health and Safety background preferably in the mining industry preferred but not required.
- Must possess or have the capability of obtaining an MSHA instructor certification.
- Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) certification preferred but not required.
- Working knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing work processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
- Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management. Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational, and technical writing skills.
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work both independently and with others in a team environment.
- Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the physical demands sheets.
- May work holidays, weekends, and shift work as required.
