Job Summary
Fueling, lubricating, and performing minor maintenance on haul trucks, loaders, graders, dozers, backhoes, blast-hole drills, compactors, support/light vehicles, and equipment. Work environment includes both maintenance shop and in-the-field assignments.
Essential Functions
- Perform equipment walk around, inspect and operate equipment, and properly dispose of waste materials.
- Train new mechanics as needed.
- Fuel and lube all mobile equipment, check fluid levels, and ensure lube system is working properly.
- Responsible for all tasks related to preventative maintenance program such as reposting fluid leaks, performing lube work, taking fluid samples, and inspecting components and parts for proper operations.
- Required to operate all mobile equipment for the purpose of servicing needs.
- Punctuality and regular attendance is required.
- Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
- Compliance with all company policies and procedures including but not limited to safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the state.
- Work safely in all areas and identify potential safety hazards and work with management to correct them.
- Work without significant risk of harm to self and others.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications and Skill Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Employee must have the ability to read and write instructions, perform simple mathematical calculations, and keep records.
- Minimum of one year of experience fueling, lubricating, and performing minor maintenance on mining or heavy construction equipment preferred.
- Must have an understanding of the mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems fundamentals and the operation of heavy/light mobile equipment.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have trade technical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
- Availability for shift work, overtime, holidays and weekends is required.
- Ability to work with others in a team environment.
- Progression through wage scale is contingent upon satisfactory completion of attached checklists.
