Job Description
An Exploration Geologist is responsible for assisting the Exploration Team in executing projects at all stages of development. The Exploration Team is primarily engaged in mineral resource definition drilling, as well as early-stage and generative exploration. The Exploration geologist should be capable of conducting independent fieldwork where required. The Exploration Geologist collects and analyzes geologic and geochemical field data and assists in reporting results to management. The Exploration Geologist will be engaged in drill core and percussion chip logging, surface geochemical sampling, GIS mapping, and 3D analysis. The Exploration Geologist will be required to utilize geological information systems such as acQuire database, MapInfo, ArcGIS, and Leapfrog Geo. The Exploration Geologist will be expected to contribute to the Team’s exploration targeting, and annual budget planning cycles.
Job Responsibilities
⦁ Perform geologic mapping and geochemical sampling programs as directed by supervisor
⦁ Log RC cuttings and Diamond core
⦁ Compile geologic and assay data into acQuire database, GIS, and/or 3D modeling software
⦁ Maintain GIS database with historical and current data. Data is to be accessible and useable by staff for property evaluation
⦁ Utilize GIS software to analyze results
⦁ Punctuality and regular attendance is required
⦁ Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management
⦁ Compliance with all company policies and procedures including but not limited to safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies
⦁ Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the state
⦁ Work safely in all areas and identify potential safety hazards and work with management to correct them
⦁ Work without significant risk of harm to self and others
⦁ Perform other duties as required
Education and Experience
⦁ Bachelor of Science in geology or equivalent required
⦁ Experience in mining or exploration geology is preferred
⦁ Good working knowledge and skill with a PC utilizing word processing and spreadsheet programs, AutoCAD, GIS software. Experience with Leapfrog Geo and acQuire database software desired
