Job Description

Manage multi-media environmental programs, procedures, and personnel to ensure compliance for Fairbanks Gold Mining, Inc.  Responsible for maintaining compliance with permit, regulatory, and corporate conditions regulations, and requirements. Prepare and manage development of environmental management plans, permit applications, and permit associated plans.  Supervision of environmental personnel.

Job Responsibilities

⦁    Responsible for maintaining strict environmental compliance at the Fort Knox Mine and satellite locations.
⦁    Develop, revise and update environmental management plans, monitoring plans, reports, and other environmental documents as required by permits and for management of environmental programs in accordance with the requirements of Fairbanks Gold Mining Inc. and the corporate office.
⦁    Provide environmental management expertise for multi-media environmental programs that include, but not limited to Fort Knox’s air, water, storm water, wetlands, community, right-to-know, dam, operations, waste, cultural, biodiversity, hazardous material, water rights, exploration, reclamation programs. 
⦁    Assist environmental staff in the development of gaining experience and understanding multi – media environmental programs and procedures for maintaining strict compliance for Fort Knox Mine and applicable sites.
⦁    Responsible for regulatory and corporate reposting in a timely fashion. 
⦁    Responsible for insuring water rights are maintained at the Fort Knox Mine and applicable sites. 
⦁    Supervisory role for environmental personnel. 
⦁    Develop and maintain strong working relationships with agency personnel. 
⦁    Manage or assist with environmental studies and projects conducted at all sites. 
⦁    Responsible for development and implementation of environmental related plans and studies for permitting new projects. 
⦁    Responsible for permitting activities of the Fort Knox Mine and new projects. This includes permit applications, interaction with the mine, consultant, and regulatory personnel to insure timely issuance of the permits.
⦁    Responsible for insuring environmental training of site personnel and contractors is completed. 
⦁    Punctually and regular attendance are required. 
⦁    Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management. 
⦁    Compliance with all company policies and procedures including but not limited to safety, confidentiality and environmental policies. 
⦁    Possession of valid driver’s license issued by the State of Alaska. 
⦁    Work without significant risk of harm to self and others. 
⦁    Maintain accurate records and files. 
⦁    Consistent exercise of discretion and judgement in job performance. 
⦁    Ability to be on-call and live within 1-Hour of the Fort Knox Mine.
⦁    Living location must have internet and cellular communication services.

Education and Experience

⦁    BA or BS degree in engineering, (preferably environmental, civil, or mining), natural resources management, or biological sciences.
⦁    10 Years of multi-media environmental management experience (preferably in mining or heavy industry).
⦁    Ability to develop figures required for environmental documents (AutoCAD or GIS).
⦁    Knowledge of all phases of mining and milling operations. 
⦁    Expert knowledge of the provisions of all environmental permits and applicable environmental regulations. 
⦁    Ability for esteemed interaction with mine, corporate, regulatory, and public stakeholder personnel. 
⦁    Proficient knowledge and skills with a P.C. utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point.
⦁    Experience in managing personnel in varying and unrelated fields. 
⦁    Ability to work independently and also as a member of the management team. 
⦁    Excellent administrative, organizational skills with the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. 
⦁    Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
⦁    Environmental auditing experience is a plus.
