Located approximately 26 miles from the City of Fairbanks, Fort Knox is a centre of excellence for the Company as one of the few cold weather heap leach facilities in the world. Job Summary
Provide administrative assistance for the Environmental department at the Fort Knox Mine. Maintain records and files, computer input, tour and event coordination and other related duties as assigned. Continue to improve and streamline the administrative processes and continuously align daily functions to reflect Kinross’ values.
Essential Functions
1. Provide assistance to the Environmental and other departments as needed.
2. Maintain Environmental departments’ records and files and retrieve information as required.
3. Maintain electronic filing systems for department to fulfill obligations of permitting, reporting and general record upkeep.
4. Maintain safety and training records and assist in organizing regular safety meetings for the group.
5. Work with the supply chain dept. to purchase supplies & equipment
6. Coordinate site tours related to the Environmental dept.
7. Attend community events, conventions and conferences as appropriate.
8. Serve as a Log keeper during EMQ Crisis Communication trainings or actual events.
9. Assist with external site sponsored events such as fundraising campaigns, Golden Days Parade, Youth Safety Day and Mining Day at the Fair, as requested.
10. Use JDE to create, manage and release work orders and requisitions.
11. Maintain monthly and yearly work orders for the Environmental department.
12. Attend meetings and prepare minutes as requested.
13. Estimated travel based on current job requirements is (5-10%).
14. Helps develop other department personnel to perform duties listed above.
15. Consistently exercises discretion and judgment in job performance.
16. Punctuality and regular attendance required.
17. Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
18. Compliance with all company policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies.
19. Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the state.
20. Work safely in all areas, identify potential safety hazards, and work with management to correct hazards.
21. Work without significant risk of harm to self and others.
22. Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications and Skill Requirements
1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Employee must have sufficient education to read and write instructions, perform simple mathematical calculations, and keep records.
2. General understanding of mining and exploration operations, as well as limited understanding of milling and maintenance operations.
3. Proficient knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software, (Microsoft Office).
4. Three (3) plus years of related work experience preferred.
5. Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
6. Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and as a member of the shared services team.
7. Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational and technical writing skills.
8. Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
9. Must be available for shift work, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
