Bald Mountain is an open-pit mine with a large estimated mineral resource in the largest private mining land package in the U.S. The mine is located in White Pine County, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world, along the southern extension of the prolific Carlin trend. Bald Mountain and the nearby Round Mountain mine make up Kinross’ Nevada operations.
Bald Mountain is an important contributor to the economy of northeastern Nevada and maintains a comprehensive environmental strategy including wildlife protection, habitat recovery and education.
Job Summary
The Surveyor is responsible for performing a full range of mine surveying functions at surface mine sites and surrounding areas. This position is primarily field-based, working in various climates and challenging terrain. Key duties include determining precise locations, elevations, lines, areas, and contours to support mining operations, drill patterns, mapping, and planning.
The ideal candidate will deliver accurate and reliable survey data to support production and operational planning. A positive attitude toward evolving technologies and the ability to complete projects efficiently are essential.
This is a straight dayshift position working a 5/4 rotation schedule.
Essential Functions
• Perform surveying tasks in open pit mine environments, including drill pattern layout, ore control layout, pit toes and crests, ramp slopes, construction projects, reconnaissance surveys, and exploration drill hole locations.
• Accurately document and post daily production, ore control data, and month-end production reports on maps and plans.
• Establish and maintain reference lines and lines for blasting patterns.
• Set grades for bench levels and ramp slopes.
• Collaborate closely with the Operations Department to support mine planning, execution, and production needs.
• Maintain, inspect, and ensure proper functionality of all survey equipment.
• Follow instructions and pre-established guidelines to complete assigned tasks.
• Demonstrate punctuality and maintain regular attendance.

• Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety, confidentiality, and environmental standards.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Must be able to read and follow instructions, perform basic mathematical calculations, and maintain accurate records.
• Familiarity with computer programs used to process and plot survey data is preferred (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Excel).
• Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to identify and troubleshoot issues effectively.
• Understanding of survey theory and proficiency with survey instruments is preferred.
• Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions and rugged outdoor environments is required.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including walking on uneven and rough terrain.
• Must either hold or be willing to obtain a Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate for drone operations as part of professional development.

• Valid driver’s license required.
