Bald Mountain is an open-pit mine with a large estimated mineral resource base located in Nevada. It is the newest mine in Kinross’ portfolio and was acquired in January 2016.

Job Description

The purpose of the Senior HR Generalist position is to deliver high quality human resources services and products in order to reach mine production goals. The incumbent will act as the second in command within the HR dept and will provide HR services to all employees to assure fair and equitable treatment in the administration of all HR programs and processes. Under the general supervision of the Human Resources Manager, the incumbent shall have responsibilities in all areas of HR, including benefit administration, recruiting and retention efforts, training, and employee relations support while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross’ values.  

Job Responsibilities
  • The incumbent shall assist with the administration of benefits and assure full communication with the department, employee, accounting, and benefit suppliers
  • The incumbents shall assist with the recruiting of high quality candidates in a set time frame, working together with the recruiter to establish reliable sources and appropriate networks
  • Administrate, educate, and counsel employees and supervisors in the correct application of the Employee Handbook
  • Administrate HR processes for efficient and effective delivery: accurate data entry, report writing, timely enrollment in benefits, support with policy questions, successful hires, and training delivery
  • Administration of leave of absence programs including FMLA, military, funeral, and personal
  • Accurately report HR activity for benchmarking and process improvement
  • Lead department projects, short and long term such as wellness programs, recognition committee and special initiatives. The purpose of all projects will be to improve the workforce and reduce costs 
  • Continually trains on leading Human Resources practices
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality and code of conduct

Qualifications and Skill Requirements
  • The incumbent must have a demonstrated ability to establish priorities and maintain deadlines under multiple time pressures
  • Must possess the ability to work accurately and efficiently with a minimum amount of direct supervision
  • Must be confident enough to step in for the HR Manager for meetings, inquiries etc as needed  
  • The incumbent must be able to solve problems through the collection and interpretation of information and make decisions that could modify current procedures and establish new policy direction
  • Accuracy is essential in the handling of all HR tasks and processes
  • College degree with HR related focus preferred
  • Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills
  • General understanding of mining operations, as well as limited understanding of milling and maintenance operations is preferred but not mandatory 
  • Working knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management
  • Ability to work independently and also as a member of the management team
  • Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational and technical writing skills
  • Must be 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full time basis
  • Requires valid driver’s license
