Bald Mountain is an open-pit mine with a large estimated mineral resource in the largest private mining land package in the U.S. The mine is located in White Pine County, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world, along the southern extension of the prolific Carlin trend. Job Summary

Under the direction of the Operations Director, the incumbent will direct all activities of the Mobile Maintenance departments to meet production goals in a safe and efficient manner. The successful candidate will provide leadership and guidance to the planning and execution of maintenance activities.   Applies and prioritizes short and intermediate-term business plans, assuring alignment with the organization’s overall strategy.  Responsible for creating the department budget. Ensures the continued growth of an area within maintenance while maximizing operational efficiencies and profitability and fostering stakeholder and employee satisfaction while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross’ values.

Essential Functions

1.    Monitor efficiency of all Mobile Maintenance departments.
2.    Ensures forecasts, budgets and reporting is completed in a timely manner.
3.    Direct all aspects of maintenance to meet company goals.
4.    Builds the capabilities of the team to enhance the production / operational area’s ability to achieve financial and operating strategy; may identify succession role requirements and high potential talent, and actively develops key talent.
5.    Sets performance targets and measures, monitors, and manages overall performance of the function and direct reports.
6.    Acts as a change agent and project sponsor for key initiatives in technical services; models organizational values, sets the cultural tone, and prioritizes business goals.
7.    Coordinate and implement preventive and corrective maintenance practices for all equipment.
8.    Maintain positive relationships with all departments and external stakeholders.
9.    Monitor, analyze and implement changes to ensure maintenance is preventative, predictive and proactive.
10.    Oversee administration of all maintenance contracts.
11.    Ensure that the job progression system is administered consistently and equitably.
12.    Ensure that all employees receive adequate training as it pertains to their roles and responsibilities and to meet statutory requirements.
13.    Ensure that all employee performance evaluations are administered fairly.
14.    Maintain a high commitment to personal safety and integrity of the environment and equipment.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

1.    Demonstrated knowledge of mining equipment and work management practices.
2.    Proven understanding of vendor and contractor warranties.
3.    Demonstrated practical knowledge and experience maintaining equipment.
4.    Proficiency in use of computer systems including, but not limited to, JDE and Microsoft Office programs.
5.    Demonstrated understanding, application, and commitment to personal safety and integrity of the environment.  
6.    2-4 years technical college work or equivalent training and previous supervisory experience preferred.
7.    15 years mining experience.
8.    10 years upper level Mobile Maintenance experience.
9.    5 years mechanical experience.
10.  Requires valid driver’s license.
