Job Summary
Under the direction of the Maintenance Planning Supervisor, the Mobile Maintenance Planner is responsible for the effective execution of the maintenance plan as per the Kinross Way for Managing Maintenance program.
Maintenance Planning/Scheduling is the process of ensuring work is ready for execution with all resources and access requirements (e.g. equipment will be ready and isolated, parts are received, etc.) in place, so the work can be performed safely and efficiently. The Mobile Maintenance Planner also ensures that the material and resources are available and communicates this information with all concerned parties in Maintenance, Operations and Engineering. This work is critical to the success of the overall mine operation in general and the maintenance function in particular.
Maintenance Planners will monitor the process of identifying work and regularly provide integrity feedback and statistics for their planning area and calculate performance measures in accordance with the Kinross Way.
Essential Functions
1. Develop and audit maintenance strategies to ensure equipment performance targets and maintenance KPI’s are achieved.
2. Manage equipment records by monitoring and controlling backlog and ensure timely completion of certifications and inspections.
3. Identify time involved, safety recommendations, procedures, and technical information for planned jobs and secure required resources (maintainers, materials, spare parts, tools, instruments, and equipment).
4. Develop and audit SJPs (Standard Job Procedures).
5. Prioritize work based on mine plan, maintenance budget/forecast, and equipment condition.
6. Select and schedule work orders related to routine maintenance (predictive and preventive) and corrective maintenance.
7. Coordinate scheduled work with Maintenance, Mine Engineering, and Operations to ensure mine plan targets will be achieved.
8. Visit at least 30% of planned and scheduled job sites to identify progress, compliance and job procedure improvements.
9. Analyze any deviations reported by maintenance supervisors from planned jobs by identifying the causes and implementing corrective actions to minimize future deviations; including updating maintenance plans.
10. Update Bill of Materials (BOMs) and Associated Part Lists (APLs) based on information provided by field maintenance and suppliers.
11. Maintain an accurate component forecast and communicate maintenance needs during monthly 30-60-90 meetings and as needed. Adjust component forecast as needed to align with greater business needs and supplier requirements.
12. Liaise regularly and professionally with Supply Chain and outside vendors/contractors to ensure that materials and resources will be available for planned jobs.
13. Participate in contract management processes, including defining scopes of work, providing technical expertise, preventing conflicts of interest, and acting as contract representative.
14. Coordinate pre/post-major meetings with applicable site personnel and contractors.
15. Interpret condition monitoring results from NDT and form corrective action plans to minimize breakdowns and maximize value.
16. Participate in mine plan reviews and provide feedback to Engineering and Operations regarding scheduling and future equipment needs.
17. Track and provide critical month-end financial information such as accruals, and variances from the budget/forecast.
18. Provide support for CMMS and end user work management training to develop others within department.
19. Participate in the application of Reliability methodologies for supporting the continuous improvement of maintenance strategies (RCM, RCA, FMECA, Criticality analysis, etc.)
20. Comply with, and exercise heightened discretion and decision making for all matters involving company policies and procedures, safety, confidentiality, and the environment.
21. Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications and Skill Requirements
1. Thorough understanding of work management, preventative maintenance, planning, and scheduling business processes and best practices Required
2. Mechanical understanding of heavy mobile equipment and component identification Required
3. Ability to interpret parts diagrams, electrical schematics, and OEM technical procedures Required
4. Ability to support effective decision making and overall business management Required
5. Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.) Required
6. Previous experience with a CMMS software, such as JDE, SAP, or Oracle EAM Required
7. Previous experience in Xeras budgeting software and zero-based budgeting principles Preferred
8. Basic understanding of data analytics Required
9. Comprehensive understanding of condition monitoring information such as oil analysis, magnetic plug inspections, and oil filter inspections Preferred
10. Good math and problem solving skills Required
11. Excellent oral and written communication Required
12. High School Diploma/Trade School Preferred
13. Must be able to communicate and coordinate with all levels of Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and outside vendors Required
14. Five (5) years of mobile equipment technician experience Preferred
15. Three (3) years of experience in planning and scheduling for mobile equipment maintenance in the mining industry Preferred
16. Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively with little supervision Required
17. Ability to readjust daily priorities as needed Required
18. Ability to maintain valid driver’s license Required
