Bald Mountain is an open-pit mine with a large estimated mineral resource in the largest private mining land package in the U.S. The mine is located in White Pine County, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world, along the southern extension of the prolific Carlin trend. Job Summary

Under the direction of the Environmental Superintendent, assist with the implementation of programs and procedures to ensure environmental compliance for KG Mining (Bald Mountain), Inc. Participate in the development of environmental management plans, monitoring plans, and permit applications. Responsible for data management including on-site document and compliance management. Ensure that sampling, monitoring, inspections and data management are conducted in accordance with company requirements and in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross’ values.

Essential Functions

•           Effectively communicate and interact with the Environmental department and site personnel to maximize informational exchange and environmental compliance.
•           Complete regular and frequent on-site inspections to ensure regulatory and permit compliance.
•           Maintain project permits in accordance with the environmental obligation tracking system.
•           Assist with the training of site and contractor personnel in environmental compliance issues.
•           Assist with environmental studies and projects conducted at all sites.
•           Maintain a competent knowledge of environmental permit conditions and environmental regulations applicable to the site.
•           Conduct compliance sampling throughout the site operations, including, but not limited to , surface water sampling, groundwater sampling, soil sampling, and/or other materials as required by the regulatory framework.
•           Maintain sampling and monitoring databases for water and other permit requirements to provide data and reports required for permit compliance.
•           Conduct safe, efficient, reliable, and accurate sampling and monitoring in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
•           Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
•           Work safely in all areas and identify potential safety hazards
•           Work without significant risk of harm to self and others.
•           Perform other duties as required.
•           Adheres to all safety and environmental considerations and strongly commits to safe working practices.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

•           Employee must have sufficient education to read and write instructions, perform simple mathematical calculations, and keep records (required).
•           Willingness to work outdoors, often in adverse weather conditions (required).
•           Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. over short distances (required).
•           Ability to develop and update environmental documents, including report writing (required).
•           Ability to work well with mine site personnel in various departments and positions throughout the site (required).
•           Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel (required).
•           Must have good verbal and written communication skills (required).
•           Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and with others in a team environment (required).
•           Valid Nevada driver’s license (or ability and intent to obtain) (required).
•           Minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience with environmental permitting and/or mining activities (preferred).
•           BA or BS degree in engineering, (preferably environmental, civil, or mining), natural resources management, or biological sciences or other environmental related discipline (preferred).
•           Previous experience performing monitoring and sampling preferred with basic knowledge of mining operations as well as general environmental monitoring (preferred).
