Job Description

The IT Project Manager works closely with the Director, Global Enterprise Applications and Project Management Office (PMO), Project Sponsors, Business Project Owners and cross-functional Project Teams with a single mission to ensure assigned projects are delivered on time, budget and quality as well as in a manner that achieve the business objectives, using sound project management practices and adhering to the Kinross IT PMO Framework.


The IT Project Manager is a key member of the IT PMO and accountable for the overall execution of enterprise project with IT and business process components in-line with the project plan, including planning, financial, communication, stakeholder, risk, issue and scope management.

The IT Project Manager will work with resources from various departments, and regions/sites, with project profiles including IT Infrastructure, Cybersecurity and Applications. Assigned Projects will vary in scope, scale and budget and range from a few months to several years.

Job Responsibilities

Leadership
 

  • Provide guidance and leadership throughout the project life-cycle

Project Delivery


Scope Management

  • Work with key stakeholders to create project scope statement
  • Oversee the creation of Functional and Non-functional (technical) requirements to ensure alignment with the Business Case and Project Charter / Vision Statement.
  • Effectively document scope changes with clearly presented impact analysis and recommendations following established project change management process.

 

Planning Management

  • Work closely with Project Sponsor to create a Project Charter for authorizing and launching projects.
  • Establish an overall project plan in either Waterfall, Agile or a hybrid methodology and change management protocols.
  • Develop, monitor and actively manage a task-level Project Master Schedule/Plan in MS Project and Service Now PPM, including the gathering of effort and cost estimates as key inputs to the Resource Plan, Schedule and Budget.
  • Plan, acquire, monitor and manage project staffing, liaising with the resource managers for project resource assignment, ensuring accurate resource forecasting and allocation continues throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Establish the Governance framework, as appropriate to the project, defining the membership and interaction model.

 

Financial Management
 

  • Develop a Resource Plan and Budget, actively monitoring and managing all project financials.
  • Track project resource and non-resource costs, clearly differentiating between operational and capital expenditures.
  • Work with the Enterprise Supply Chain Group on new projects RFI/RFP and effectively manage IT vendors in the creation of a Statement of Work; tracking project time entries, invoices, accounts receivable and accounts payable.

 

Communication Management
 

  • Communicate succinct and clear, quality information to capture interest, inform and gain support.
  • Capable of communicating project technical information in a manner that business executive and team members can understand.
  • Facilitate timely and effective meetings at all levels.
  • Effectively communicate relevant project information to all project stakeholders at senior executive levels and project team levels, both written and verbal.
  • Resolve and/or escalate appropriate issues in a timely manner.

  • In a fully matrix environment, manage the day-to-day deliverables of all project resources.
  • Manage vendor delivery in accordance with the project Statement of Work.
  • Manage the expectations of project stakeholders, at all levels, from IT and the Business.

 

Risk and Issue Management
 

  • Identify, define, assess, rank and describe the process of how project risks will be addressed and/or mitigated, assigning accountability for the ongoing monitoring of any perceived risks that may impact the project team’s ability to successfully deliver the project.
  • Identify, prioritize, address and monitor project issues as they arise throughout the project life-cycle.

Stakeholder Management

Education and Experience

Skills, Experience & Education
Proven experience in project management best practices and methodologies.

  • Significant experience in the IT project delivery function; proven success managing enterprise IT projects in a complex multi-stakeholder organization.
  • An excellent understanding and experience of the IT environment and services: IT Infrastructure, Security and Applications.
  • Ability to recognize symptoms that indicate problems and manage key stakeholder’s perceived view / assessment of risks appropriately
  • Proficiency in the use of project management tools and technologies including Microsoft Office suite (especially Microsoft Project and Visio) and Service Now PPM.
  • A track record of building strong relationships with internal and external business partners.
  • Experience in managing business expectations, leading project review meetings, managing and setting priorities, as appropriate.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, written and verbal communication and documentation skills.
  • Confidence to seek feedback to enhance personal performance.
  • Excellent track record of authenticity, leading with vision, improving and innovating to deliver projects, empowering project teams, building trust with stakeholders at all levels, using powerful techniques to deliver projects and working with intent.
  • Highly motivated, strong, passionate, persuasive, and capable of quickly establishing credibility in launching and managing projects.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Fluent in English Language
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • A team player with the ability to coordinate multiple competing priorities within strict timelines
  • Business Analysis and Organizational Change Management experience are assets
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in Information Technology and or Business related disciplines
  • Minimum of 5 years in a project management role managing highly visible projects
  • 5-8 years in an IT or business-related functional role
  • PMP certification preferred
