Job Description

The Gold Rush Corporate Internship Program is an opportunity for ambitious students who are enrolled in a Business - Accounting/Finance program at a recognized academic institution, and who are highly interested in the mining industry.

This program will have opportunities working closely with various departments in Kinross’ Corporate Office in Toronto, Ontario gaining real-world experience in an exciting, dynamic industry.

The student hired for this role will report to the Manager of Accounting Advisory.

 

Job Responsibilities

The Finance Intern will assist the Corporate Accounting and Financial Reporting functions of the Kinross finance department:

  • Assistance with the month-end and quarter-end close process
  • Participation in the external financial reporting process
  • Assistance with ad-hoc requests from various departments
  • Analysis of financial information

Education and Experience

  • 2nd or 3rd year Business - Accounting/Finance (or related) program from a recognized educational institution with an excellent academic record

Skills

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Flexibility to undertake various tasks
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently
  • Ability to learn quickly and to work well in a team environment     
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of accounting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Spanish, Russian, French, or Portuguese language abilities would also be an asset
