Round Mountain is an open-pit mine located in Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world. The mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods and processes ore by mill and heap leach. Kinross began operating the mine in 2003, and it has since become a continuous improvement leader in the Company’s portfolio. Round Mountain poured its 15 millionth ounce in 2018. Round Mountain and the nearby Bald Mountain mine make up Kinross’ Nevada operations.
The Round Mountain mine is an important contributor to the Nye County economy and, working with local stakeholders, has helped achieve significant improvements in healthcare and education in the area.
Job Description
Under the direction of the Maintenance Superintendent, the General Supervisor directs all activities for their respective maintenance department to meet production goals in a safe and efficient manner.
Essential Functions
1. Responsible for development and adherence to monthly schedule and annual plan as per the Kinross Way for Managing Maintenance.
2. Assign crews to specific tasks in order to meet daily mine maintenance goals.
3. Understand and continuously monitor schedules and priorities to maximize efficiency of the equipment.
4. Thorough understanding of department specific maintenance practices and procedures.
5. The ability to effectively manage the development of all staff members.
6. Develop crew skills to levels of maximum efficiency and safety.
7. Assign resources to tasks as per the plan and as required for non-planned activities.
8. Constantly monitor crew activities to ensure efficient, safe operations and make recommendations for revised procedures when problems are encountered.
9. Ensure consistency in the application of company policies and progressions.
10. Coordinate maintenance/contract resources as necessary.
11. Monitor maintenance actual cost vs. budget and manage variances.
12. Ensure that all necessary documentation is completed accurately for High Risk Activities and Round Mountain Gold Corporations Permit to Work policies.
13. Must be able to help support our safety culture and be active in maintaining a safe work environment for all employees.
Qualifications and Skill Requirement
1. The ability to effectively manage the development of all staff members.
2. Must be able to advise all departments on the projected life and quality of assets, including wear, safety, maintenance and use.
3. An understanding of the maintenance work management principles, specifically proactive maintenance vs. reactive maintenance.
4. Must be able to balance resource allocations with changing priorities as required.
5. Proficient in use of CMMS systems including but not limited to JDE and Microsoft Office programs.
6. Mechanical training preferred.
7. 5-10 years previous maintenance experience.
8. 2 years direct supervisory experience.
9. Mechanical training certificates preferred.
10. Requires valid driver’s license.

• Typically reports to the Ore Processing Superintendent
