Bald Mountain is an open-pit mine with a large estimated mineral resource base located in Nevada. It is the newest mine in Kinross’ portfolio and was acquired in January 2016.

Job Description

Under the supervision of the Electrical Supervisor, the incumbent undertakes the maintenance of the electric shovels and electric haul trucks. Incumbent will also maintain substations, transformers, and other electrical duties of the shop area. The incumbent will coordinate with electricians, mechanics, and supervision, changes and improvements in the process.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will maintain and repair electrical systems on P&H 2800 DC shovels, 830AC and 830DC Haul Trucks. Experience with high voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, and protection relays. High voltage cable terminations, splices and miscellaneous electrical repairs. Building electrical maintenance including wash bay, fuel islands, and operation buildings as needed. Including other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Electrical background required; either a college or technical degree or Journeyman.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in open pit mining environment preferred.

Skills

 

  • Industrial electrical experience preferred.
  • Experience with programmable logic controls and motor controls circuits.
  • Experience with maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems on P&H shovels, 830AC and 830DC electric haul trucks preferred.
  • Basic motor control troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read electrical blue prints and utilize test equipment preferred.
  • Ability to utilize basic hand tools required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management required.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position required.
  • MSHA electrical cards preferred.
  • High-voltage cable repairs preferred.
  • Requires valid driver’s license.
