Job Description

Round Mountain Gold Corporation seeks an Environmental Superintendent in Round Mountain, NV.  Round Mountain Gold Corporation is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kinross Gold Corporation.

Work You'll Do

Overseeing the activities of the Environmental Department team to support environmental programs and initiatives. Identifying and leading required activities in order to support company’s environmental business practices to minimize delays related to permitting and ensure that operations and projects remain on schedule and with minimal delays. Supervise environmental projects, including interdepartmental initiatives and management of project consultants and on-site contractors. Effectively communicate with regulatory agencies to develop and maintain good working relationships and monitor regulatory changes. Ensure that all departmental activities are conducted in accordance with company’s requirements and in compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations and licenses. Demonstrating environmental regulatory experience in the gold or metallic mining industry. Performing regulatory obligations through established system databases, including MonitorPro, Newtrax, eManifest, Access, and Geoexplorer. Coordinating the internal and external obligations related to tailings dam management. Coordinating environmental audits with international cyanide management institute and insurance companies. Coordinating with Federal, State, and consulting companies to permit future mine expansions under the National Environmental Policy Act. Using telemetry technology for remote environmental monitoring in monitoring wells. Preparing social responsibility data for corporate reporting. The position supervises one (1) Environmental Technician, three (3) Environmental Specialist, and two (2) Environmental Engineers.

Requirements

•    Master’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Environmental Engineering, Mining Engineering, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a related field. 
•    Three years of experience in the offered position or a position in a related occupation.
•    Must have three years of experience in:
o    Demonstrating environmental regulatory experience in the gold or metallic mining industry;
o    Performing regulatory obligations through established system databases, including MonitorPro, Newtrax, eManifest, Access, and Geoexplorer;
o    Coordinating the internal and external obligations related to tailings dam management;
o    Coordinating environmental audits with international cyanide management institute and insurance companies;
o    Coordinating with Federal, State, and consulting companies to permit future mine expansions under the National Environmental Policy Act;
o    Using telemetry technology for remote environmental monitoring in monitoring wells; and 
o    Preparing social responsibility data for corporate reporting.
•    In the alternative, employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in the stated field plus five years of progressively responsible experience in the skills enumerated above as equivalent to the Master’s degree and three years of experience.
