Job Description

Provide daily technical support to Mill Operations and Heap Leach for troubleshooting and correcting metallurgical and production problems.  Has specific responsibility for optimization of mill reagent usage.  Supervise and direct activities of metallurgical technicians.

Job Responsibilities

1.     Works with Mill Operations and Heap Leach to assist in troubleshooting and solving metallurgical problems.
2.    Fills in for the Senior Metallurgist in his/her absence and therefore assumes responsibility of refinery operation and metal production.
3.    Responsible for royalty sample test programs as well as routine metallurgical testing, monitoring, control, and optimization of the operation.
4.    Develops and executes lab and plant test programs for improvement of plant metallurgical performance.
5.    Monitors and evaluates metallurgical performance of the mill designs and executes test programs for improving mill recovery, throughput, and costs.
6.    Responsible for preparation of monthly status and final reports on all metallurgical projects.
7.    Responsible for all of the department’s metallurgical accounting functions including sampling and data collection programs, calculations, and databases for daily, monthly, and annual reports.
8.    Responsible for mill reagent consumption reports.
9.    Has direct responsibility for mill sampling systems and practices.
10.    Punctuality and regular attendance is required.
11.    Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
12.    Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies.
13.    Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the state.
14.    Work safely in all areas and identify potential safety hazards and work with management to correct them.
15.    Work without significant risk of harm to self and others.
16.    Perform other duties as required

Education and Experience

  1. Employee must have sufficient education to read and write instructions, perform simple mathematical calculations, and keep records.
  2. Bachelor of Science in metallurgical engineering or related field or equivalent work experience required.
  3. Minimum of two years of experience in operations or technical support, including two years in precious metals.




Experience

  1. Must have strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
  2. Attention to detail, a clear sense of priorities, and effective time management skills.
  3. Must be a production oriented, self-starter with the ability to work with others in a team environment.
  4. Strong working knowledge and skills with a PC utilizing word processing and spreadsheet programs.
  5. Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
  6. May work holidays, shift work, and weekends as required.
