Bald Mountain is an open-pit mine with a large estimated mineral resource in the largest private mining land package in the U.S. The mine is located in White Pine County, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world, along the southern extension of the prolific Carlin trend. Bald Mountain and the nearby Round Mountain mine make up Kinross’ Nevada operations. 

Bald Mountain is an important contributor to the economy of northeastern Nevada and maintains a comprehensive environmental strategy including wildlife protection, habitat recovery and education.

Job Summary

This is an entry-level position in the Process Pads and will include training opportunities up to higher levels throughout the department as necessary.

Essential Functions

• Operate various equipment: forklift, skid steer, backhoe, excavator, and dozer.
• Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality, and code of conduct.
• Meets or exceeds established performance expectations set by management.
• Consistently exercises discretion and judgment in job performance.
• Works without risk or harm to self and others.
• Punctuality and regular attendance are required.
• Helps develop other department personnel to perform the duties listed above.
• Performs other related functions as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

• Ability to walk over rough terrain as well as climb stairways, catwalks, and pads.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. frequently throughout the day.
• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
• Previous experience operating equipment is preferred.
• Previous leach pad or plant experience is preferred.
• Care and custody of equipment.
• Willing to train others on equipment.
• General understanding of process mining operations (leach pads, CIC, and VCIC)
• Working knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
• Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
• Ability to work independently and also as a member of the management team.
• Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational, and technical writing skills.
• Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
• Must be 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
• Requires valid driver’s license.
