Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Process Maintenance General Supervisor and Area Process Maintenance Supervisors, the incumbent undertakes the maintenance of the electric shovels and electric haul trucks. Incumbent will also maintain substations, transformers, and other electrical duties of the shop area. Process Electrical experience preferred but not required Should be up on NEC Code and able to do Plant and Site Electrical work as required. 

Essential Functions

The successful candidate will maintain and repair electrical systems on P&H 2800 DC shovels, 830AC and 830DC Haul Trucks. Experience with high voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, and protection relays. High voltage cable terminations, splices and miscellaneous electrical repairs. Building and Grounds electrical maintenance including wash bay, fuel islands, Sub Station Maintenance and Power distribution lines. 

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

•    Electrical background preferred; either a college or technical degree or Journeyman.
•    Minimum of 5 years’ experience in open pit mining environment preferred.
•    Industrial electrical experience preferred.
•    Experience with programmable logic controls and motor controls circuits.
•    Experience with maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems on P&H shovels, 830AC and 830DC electric haul trucks preferred.
•    Basic motor control troubleshooting.
•    Ability to read electrical blue prints and utilize test equipment preferred.
•    Ability to utilize basic hand tools required.
•    Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management required.
•    Ability to perform the essential functions of the position required.
•    MSHA electrical cards preferred.
•    High-voltage cable repairs preferred.
•    Requires valid driver’s license.
•    Must be able to follow NEC Code
